Commemoration

ANZAC DAY

ANZAC Day marks the anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli in 1915 during World War I. However our ANZAC Day commemorative service goes beyond this. It is the day where we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Currumbin RSL is the creator, funder and manager of one of Australia’s largest regional Dawn Services which attracts tens of thousands of people each year.

VP VJ DAY – AUGUST 15

World War II lasted from 1939 to 1945 and was the most widespread war in history which directly involved more than 100 million people from over 30 countries. We hold a small but special service on VP VJ Day and are proud to have a small number of WWII veterans in our Sub Branch.

VIETNAM VETERANS’ DAY – AUGUST 18

We remember the sacrifices of those who died and thank the 60,000 Australians who served during the 10 years of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War between 1962 and 1972. Sadly, 521 died and 3000 were wounded.

Currumbin Palm beach RSL held its inaugural Vietnam Veterans’ Day commemoration in 2021. All Currumbin Palm Beach RSL Sub Branch members were invited to attend a cenotaph service, followed by an informal luncheon. Vietnam Veterans’ Day will become a permanent day of commemoration moving forward.
